German Ambassador in Albania: We will recognize the General Elections even without the opposition

Tirana, Albania — The German government is willing to recognize the Albanian elections even if they are to be held without the opposition.  This is what the German Ambassador to Albania, Susanne Schütz, expressed in an interview for Voice of America, (VOA).
“Elections should be held on the appointed date. If the Albanian Democratic Party refuses to become part of the 18th June elections, this is will be a sad decision. However, it is not going to affect our attitude toward Albania. Germany is willing to recognize the Albanian General Elections, even if they are to be held without the opposition parties,’ declared Susanne Schütz.
A few days ago, even the American Ambassador in Albania, Donald Lu, articulated the importance of these elections, stressing that ‘the US will recognize the outcome even without the opposition’s participation’. But, at the same time the US Ambassador urged opposition parties to give up the boycott and register in the general elections.
Albania will hold general elections on the 18th of June 2017, while so far the negotiations with the international representatives and the Albanian opposition parties have resulted unsuccessfully.
