Tirana to Hold its 19th Book Fair Amid Decreasing Traditional Readership

Tirana will host its 19th Book Fair in what is traditionally the largest event gathering Albanian-speaking publishers, authors, translators,  media representatives and book-lovers in the Albanian speaking sphere.

Newest book titles in every genre published between November 2015-2016 will go on display in Tirana at a time of concern for may publishers, as traditional paperback readership has slowly been decreasing in line with the European trend of decline in print book readers.

While no details have been made public yet, the Albanian Association of Publishers, the event’s organizer since 1998, say they will award four prizes, including the best 2016 author, the best translator, best children’s book and a special jury award.

More than a hundred publishers from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albanian Diaspora will showcase their newest publications during the event.

This year’s edition of the five-day annual book fair, traditionally held at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, is scheduled to take place from Nov. 9-13.
