Prosecutor Seizes Albanian Socialist MP Assets

Tirana, Albania | Tirana Echo – Albania’s Prosecutor has seized the assets of socialist MP Alfred Peza registered under his wife’s name after more than 600,000 euros go unaccounted for.

According to the ‘Anti Mafia’ law, the Serious Crimes Court has acted upon the Prosecutor’s request to seize all assets of Aldred Peza and his wife Mirela Ndini who cannot justify more than €600,000 euros in their accounts.

The prosecutor has also seized Ndini’s 1% shares in the Credins Bank valued at around €850,000 euros, arguing that the couple has failed to justify the source of their acquisitions, and has not declared their true assets according to Albanian legislation.

The prosecutor says the action is needed in order to start proceedings against Alfred Peza MP of the ruling socialist party.

The use of the Anti-Mafia law on Peza’s case suggests that the former journalist turned MP, risks losing his parliamentary mandate while both him and his wife may risk several years in prison.
