Opposition leader warns Albania’s upcoming elections could be postponed

Tirana, Albania | Tirana Echo – Albania upcoming general elections of June 18 could be postponed if the political crisis which has paralyzed the country’s political scene continues.

The only condition to have elections is a technical government. If the technical government decides to postpone elections, we will not be against it” – said DP leader Lulzim Basha today to the media.

Opposition democrats and other opposing parties are on their third week of protesting and a full parliamentary boycott, while concerns are seriously raised over the fate of general elections as well as the election of the country’s new President which should take place in Parliament over the next two months.

The opposition is demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the formation of a technical government which will guarantee the standards of the elections.

DP chair Lulzim Basha has warned that unless Edi Rama resigns, there may be no elections taking place, aswhile all opposition electoral subjects have unsubscribed from Central Elections Committee registers.
