Tirana, Albania – Going from war-torn Kosovo to winning the American Idol, Lindita Halimi is ready to take on the world as she will represent Albania in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Eurovision has started to introduce each of the artists participating in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The artist in focus today is 27 year old singer-songwriter Lindita Halimi who will represent Albania with the song World. For Lindita participating the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true and she has always pictured herself up on that stage.
Lindita’s road to Kyiv started late last year when she won the Albanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Festivali i Këngës but she has been singing professionally for a number of years. In 2007 she was a finalist in Albanian Idol and over the course of her career she has won numerous awards. Lindita moved to the United States in 2016 and last year she participated in American Idol.
Lindita’s song, World, is about self-acceptance and spreading love to all. In addition to singing she also plays the piano and has sung in 10 languages. Before she goes on-stage Lindita imposes a strict 30 minute vocal rest upon herself which means absolutely no talking. As well as Albanian and English, Lindita also speaks German, Spanish and Croatian which will no doubt come in handy when she meets the other delegations in Kyiv in May!
