Tirana, Albania | Tirana Echo – The trade volume in Albania registered a growth of 8.6 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2016, the national institute of statistics (INSTAT) said in a report on Thursday.

Speaking on quarterly basis, the trade volume increased by 3.6 percent in Q4 compared to Q3, 2016, data showed.

In the group of retail trade, excluding the retail sales of motor fuel, this index increased by 7.2 percent compared with the same quarter of previous year, INSTAT said.

Albanian Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj saw the report of INSTAT as a confirmation of the positive performance of the Albanian economy.

According to him, Albanian economy closed the last year with a stable growth of consumption, adding that the same trend has also been witnessed in the first months of 2017.

We passed three very difficult years of revitalization and consolidation but the Albanian economy is now giving positive results in every sector,” local media cited minister Ahmetaj as writing on social networks.

In this regard, he stressed that Albania needed to continue with the reforms which, in his view, will further promote and consolidate Albanian economy.
