Head of the Opposition Proposes Constitutional Reform in Albania

The head of Albanian DP Lulzim Basha in a broadcast interview on Friday said that the lists of candidates for MPs reflect invigoration of the party and, according to him, the list was greeted with enthusiasm from all, ATA reports.
“82% of the candidates have never been Members of Parliament. In terms of invigoration, this is a very clear move. It is the case of an elite circulation which is rendered possible thanks to the departure of old politicians. The young candidates are outstanding people in politics, civil and academic society. The change is intended to boost development and progress. Each institution, the parties in particular, should embrace the change. This list represents the best team and values of Albanian society,” he said.

Regarding inclusion on the list of former PM Sali Berisha, which comes against the decision of Basha about an invigoration of DP, he said that he was driven by his tremendous contribution.

“Whatever system in place, Sali Berisha would have been on the list. He has contributed so much to democracy, economy, education, healthcare. In this regard, he has always a place in DP for what he stands for. It has been my decision,” Basha said.

Concerning the agreement DP-SP, Basha said the agreement stipulates the end of the old republic. The Constitutional and Electoral Reform, the e-vote and count, are nothing but the end of this republic. Through the constitutional reform, we will put an end to horse trading, because the government cannot be a cake to be divided among parties. Rama is bound to accept the constitutional reform that guarantees that the citizens have the level to control the government,” Basha pointed out.
