Foreign visitors to Albania rise 6.7% in second quarter says statistical body INSTAT

The number of foreign citizens entering Albania increased 6.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2016, reaching 1.04 million, the country’s statistics office, INSTAT, said on Thursday.

Out of the total, 98.5% came to Albania for personal reasons, up by 6.3% on the year, according to INSTAT’s quarterly statistical bulletin.

Most of the visits originated in Southern Europe, as the countries were not specified in the report.

Most of the foreigners, or 84.5%, came by land, whereas 10.6% used air lines to Tirana International Airport, Albania’s sole operating airport at the moment.
