Tirana, Albania | Tirana Echo – The State Advocate of Albania Alma Hicka, has demanded the arrest of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Edmond Spaho who chairs the CEZ investigative committee on behalf of the opposition democrats.

The demand comes minutes ahead of her appearance at the upcoming session of the parliamentary investigative committee on the ‘CEZ’ affair, which turned sour between the Czech energy giant and the Albanian government.

Hiçka alledged that Spaho’s request to forcefully bring her in front of the committee to testify was unlawful and was motivated by criminal purposes.

The State Advocate said that “the CEZ investigative committee ordered Hiçka to testify by force. Spaho’s orders are motivated by criminal purposes. The request of Hiçka against her will has no legal ground and is unlawful”

In 2014, CEZ AS, the Czech Republic’s largest power producer, reached a €100m agreement with the Albanian government to settle a dispute over the revocation of its distribution license in the country last year, after a series of scandals surrounding energy operations performed by CEZ in Albania.
